If Certified Funds Are Required
- Funds are considered certified if they are a money order, cashier’s check, or check from a title company.
- Certified funds are required when:
- More than two (2) checks have been returned in a 12 month period
- A payoff of any subordinate loans
- A subordinate payment is greater than $1,000
Subordinate Payment Questions
How can I make additional payments?
Payments can be made by sending a check or money order to the California Housing Finance Agency, Loan Administration, 500 Capitol Mall, Ste. 1400 (MS955), Sacramento, CA 95814. Make sure your name, property address, and loan number are on the payment instrument so that we can apply it to the correct loan(s). Payments of more than $1,000.00 on subordinate loans must be in certified funds (money orders or certified check). Any payment of any amount which pays the loan in full must be in certified funds. Payments not meeting these conditions will be returned.
Can I make payments online?
No, we do not currently have this service available for Second or Subordinate loans. There may be online banking options your banking institution provides for online bill pay. Please inquire with your banking institution for more information.
Can I get payment coupon or monthly statements for my subordinate loan?
Since these loans are "Silent" (no payments required) we do not issue coupons. You can call us or "Contact Us" and request for an Activity Statement, and we will mail one out.
How do I find payoff information on my subordinate loan?
You can send a request in writing to CalHFA, Loan Administration, 500 Capitol Mall, Ste. 1400 (MS955), Sacramento, CA 95814 or fax a request to 916.326.6420. Include borrower's name, property address, and loan number, if available. We do not give payoff quotes over the phone. We require a borrower's authorization if the request is from other than the borrower (escrow company, title company, another lender, etc.). Our normal turn around time is 5 to 10 business days. We need a specific signed request to fax a payoff quote.
